So Many Ways
Summer is here and there are so many ways to make your backyard the perfect space for entertaining and relaxing. And, it doesn’t have to be expensive!
Here are some ideas:
– To have a fire pit area is the hottest trend. Having extra space to sit together, talk, and enjoy the fresh air is a huge plus for any backyard. There are tons of DIY plans for fire pit building. You can use yard pavers, dig a hole and line it with bricks, clear the grass and place a metal frame (store-bought) fire pit, and even use rocks you may find around your neighborhood. Think outside the box…it definitely doesn’t have to be a two-thousand dollar outdoor fireplace. Add to the space with lanterns that can be hung from tree limbs or Shepard’s Hooks, and have chairs that can stay in place 24/7 (you don’t want to have to lug furniture down there every time people are over).
– Clean the wood on your deck. There are tons of products at places likes Lowe’s, Home Depot, Sherwin Williams, etc. that have specific products to clean the wood on your porch. These cleaners take the mold, mildew, and dirt out of the wood giving your deck the revitalization it needs! If you want to make more of a lasting finish, staining or painting your deck is great. There are so many colors that can spruce up your seating area and breathe life back into the space.
– Trim your bushes and get rid of excessive grass. Having a clean-cut (pun intended) look is such an easy way to make your property appear fresh, bright, and maintained. Make sure if you trim bushes that there aren’t any cold nights in the near future, if so, cover them up! Getting rid of excessive grass up against your home or building will give more of a purposeful image (overgrown grass just doesn’t look good). Kill that grass right along the edge and give it more of a manicured appearance.
– Replace or clean seat cushions so there is no mildew. Mildew can get on clothes and cause an odor. Make sure to clean off chairs as well!
– Get solar lights!! These are awesome for outdoor spaces. They come on automatically (meaning you don’t have to remember to do it!), and their only cost is replacing the batteries once in a blue moon because they typically last for a while. Having this lights make such a difference in the setting of your outdoor space. There are lights for the caps on deck/fence posts, to place in stairwells, and even to stick in the ground. Making them great for outlining walkways, highlighting plants or property features, and creating an ambiance. Perfect additions to any space outside!
These are a few easy “things” that can really make a difference in the appeal of your outdoor space. Cook-out time is here, get busy!
